Abstract:
The blind and depigmented fish belonging to the species
Astyanax mexicanus are an exceptional model for
study the evolution of an organism in a situation of adaptation
to a drastic change in environment. Indeed, in
darkness of the caves, this cave fish has undergone a certain
number of morphological, physiological changes
and behavioral. However, this morphotype can
always reproduce with its congener who lives in the
surface rivers. In the laboratory, the resulting hybrids
such crosses allow genetic approaches
to identify the mutations underlying their evolution
troglomorphic. After a presentation of the model, we
expose three scientific projects in progress, currently,
in our laboratory. We explain the different
possibilities of crosses between morphotypes which will allow
to discover mutations potentially involved in
changes in the development and behavior of
the mexicanus cave
