Abstract:
The seasonal metabolic demands faced within geothermal habitats is similar to the seasonal metabolic demands shown to influence divergence in Mexican cave fish (Astyanax mexicanus) (Cobham & Rohner, 2024). Mexican cave fish have shown remarkable adaptation to seasonal resource limitation through changes in a suite of metabolic processes (Krishnan et al., 2022; Xiong et al., 2022; Olsen et al., 2023; Pozo- Morales et al., 2024). The 1.6Mb inversion located on chromosome XXI potentially enabled enhanced DNA repair and metabolic adaptation to thermal stress under geothermal conditions
